How will cervix feel in early pregnancy?

My period is late and I'm wondering if I could be pregnant. I heard that your cervix changes in early pregnancy. How will the cervix feel in the very early stages of pregnancy?

I am a bit shy to ask this, but we are planning our first baby and I'm quite confused. I read online that the cervix becomes soft and high up during early pregnancy. Is this something we can actually feel easily at home, or is it better to just wait and take a urine test?

The cervix generally feels soft, similar to your lips, and rises higher during early pregnancy. While checking this, make sure you are eating a clean, nutrient-dense diet rich in leafy greens and iron. However, avoid checking it physically too often to prevent any unwanted infections.

My gynecologist explained that due to increased progesterone levels, the cervix becomes softer, higher, and more closed to protect the developing embryo. However, she strongly advised against trying to feel it yourself, as you can easily introduce bacteria. A clinic scan or urine test is the only reliable way.

While hormonal changes definitely make the cervix feel softer, don't rely on physical self-exams as they can be misleading. If you suspect you are pregnant, get a proper blood test done. Also, if you have thyroid issues like me, make sure to get your TSH checked immediately as it is crucial for early fetal development.

I was just reading an article about this yesterday because I was curious! Apparently, it is often called the 'show' of pregnancy when the cervix softens up, but it is so hard to tell the difference yourself. A simple home pregnancy kit seems much less confusing.
