How to use treadmill for weight loss?

I've been planning to start exercising to lose weight and bought a treadmill for home. But I'm not sure how to use a treadmill effectively for weight loss. Are there specific speeds or incline settings I should be using?

Treadmill is great, but don't forget that weight loss is 80% diet. I do a 30-minute brisk walk on the treadmill daily, but I make sure to avoid deep-fried vegetarian snacks afterwards. Eat high-protein dals and vegetables to see the actual results of your sweat.

I totally get it, looking at a treadmill can feel so intimidating and boring when you are starting out! Try the 12-3-30 workout: set the incline to 12, speed to 3 km/h, and walk for 30 minutes. It is a fantastic fat burner and doesn't strain your knees like running does.

In my experience, running fast on the treadmill just made my knees hurt. I switched to a steady incline walk at 5 km/h for 40 minutes, 4 times a week. Combined with portion control, I managed to lose 8 kg in three months without any injury.

For weight loss, consistency is much better than intensity. Start with a simple 20-minute daily walk on flat ground, and slowly increase the incline by 1% every week. Always wear proper running shoes to protect your joints, and keep a water bottle handy.

I use the treadmill display to calculate how many calories I burned, just so I can justify eating an extra butter naan for dinner! If you want to lose weight, don't be like me. Use incline walking, but keep your hands off the treats afterwards.

I am so tired from work that running on a treadmill feels like a punishment. I just put on my favorite web series, walk at a slow speed of 4 km/h for an hour, and call it a day. Hey, at least I am moving instead of lying on the couch!
