How to treat dehydration in early pregnancy?

I'm in my first trimester and have been feeling quite dehydrated, even though I'm trying to drink water. My doctor mentioned it's common with morning sickness. What are some safe ways to treat dehydration in early pregnancy?

Please be very careful with dehydration in the early months. If you are throwing up constantly and cannot even keep water down, don't wait at home trying remedies. Contact your gynecologist immediately to check if you need IV fluids for safety.

Hey, don't panic, this is very common in the first trimester because of morning sickness. Try to sip on cold coconut water or lime water with a pinch of salt and sugar throughout the day instead of gulping down big glasses of plain water. Take rest and take it one small sip at a time.

Along with sipping water, a very light 10-minute walk in the fresh air can sometimes help reduce that constant nausea which causes dehydration. Of course, only do this if your doctor has cleared you for light movement, and keep a water bottle always in hand.

In our times, we used to suck on a small piece of ginger or a hard lemon candy to stop the vomiting sensation. Once the nausea settles, drink barley water or light buttermilk. Your body is doing a lot of work right now, so eat juicy fruits like watermelon and rest as much as you can.

Early pregnancy survival tip: make ORS your new favorite mocktail! Honestly, plain water tastes so weird during this phase, so jazz it up with some mint, cucumber, or lime. Just think of it as preparing your body for the sleepless nights ahead!

When you are dehydrated, your electrolyte balance goes completely out of whack. Try to include potassium-rich foods like bananas which are easy on the stomach, and drink coconut water. Keep your nutrition simple, avoid heavy spicy foods, and focus on slow hydration throughout the day.
