How to run for weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight, and running seems like a good option for me. But I'm not sure if I'm doing it right for weight loss. What's the most effective way to run for weight loss, like how long or how fast should I go?

I can only share what worked for me, but running alone didn't help me lose weight until I fixed my diet. I started doing slow, steady runs for 30 minutes, 4 times a week, while maintaining a calorie deficit. It takes time, so be consistent.

It can be really overwhelming and stressful when you are trying to lose weight and feel like you are not doing enough. Please start slowly with a mix of walking and jogging so you don't hurt yourself or get exhausted. Your mental peace is just as important as physical progress.

Don't blindly follow intense running plans online promising quick weight loss. If you are heavily overweight, running can put excessive pressure on your knees and ankles. Consult a doctor or physical trainer first to see if you should start with low-impact exercises instead.

I am also looking into this because I want to start my fitness journey. From what I have researched, slow jog or zone 2 cardio is actually better for fat burn than sprinting till you are out of breath. Let's see how it goes!

With PCOS, high-intensity running sometimes increases cortisol levels and makes weight loss harder for me. I prefer a slow jog combined with strength training. Listen to your body and don't push yourself to exhaustion, it's a slow process.

Do not treat running as a punishment for your body, but as a way to connect with nature and thank your body. Wake up early, enjoy the fresh morning air, and run at a peaceful pace. Results will come naturally when you keep a positive mind.

I have realized over the years that consistency is much better than intensity. Run at a pace where you can easily talk to someone without gasping for breath. Do this regularly, control your portion sizes, and you will see steady, healthy weight loss.
