How to not gain weight during pregnancy?

Just found out I'm pregnant, yay! But my sister-in-law gained a lot of weight with both her kids and is struggling to lose it now. I want to avoid that; what are the best ways to not gain weight during pregnancy?

Listen, your body is literally growing a whole human, so don't stress too much about the scale right now! Just focus on eating clean home-cooked meals when those cravings hit and stay active with light walks. Honestly, as long as your gynac says the baby's growth is on track, you are doing absolutely fine, chill out.

It is best to stick to traditional home food like ragi porridge, roasted makhana, and coconut water instead of packaged snacks. But please don't try any strict diets or fasts to control weight now. Always consult your doctor before starting any prenatal exercises or if you feel too weak or sudden swelling.

I delivered just three months back and had this exact same fear throughout. What really worked for me was portion control and swapping heavy sweets with fruits and curd. Don't eat for two, that is a total myth, just eat normal nutritious food and you won't gain unnecessary weight.

I was actually reading a couple of medical blogs on this yesterday because my cousin is expecting. It seems gaining some weight is actually healthy and necessary for the baby. From what I read, just cutting out processed sugar and keeping up with daily steps seems to be the safest way to manage it.

When my wife was pregnant, she tried so hard to watch her weight, but those late-night ice cream trips happened anyway! Looking back, a little extra weight is completely normal and inevitable. Just keep moving, avoid eating oily bhaturas daily, and let your doctor worry about the actual medical numbers.
