How to not gain too much weight during pregnancy?

I'm expecting my first baby next year, and my cousin gained a lot of weight during her pregnancy which made her delivery difficult. I want to be healthy, but how can I make sure I don't gain too much weight during pregnancy?

This is a beautiful phase of your life, so keep your mind positive and peaceful. Nourish your body with simple, natural, home-cooked foods and avoid heavy processed items. Trust the natural process of motherhood and let your doctor guide you on your health path.

I gave birth just three months ago and had the same worry. I managed my weight by cutting out sweet cravings, drinking plenty of water, and having small, frequent meals instead of heavy ones. It worked perfectly, and my gynecologist was very happy with my progress.

I am in my first trimester and feeling very confused about how much weight gain is actually considered normal. My elders tell me to eat ghee daily, but I am worried about gaining too much too fast. Can anyone share what their doctors recommended for the early months?

I completely agree that eating for 'two' is a big myth. Focusing on nutrient-dense meals like sprouts, nuts, and boiled vegetables rather than empty carbs is the best way to keep your weight gain healthy.

During pregnancy, it is traditional to eat nourishing foods like soaked almonds and light coconut water, which are very safe and healthy. However, one must avoid eating excessive heavy fats or sweet sweets in the name of tradition. Always follow the sweet advice of your gynecologist for a safe delivery.

Staying active is key to managing your weight during pregnancy. A simple, regular routine of brisk walking for 30 minutes daily is highly beneficial, provided your gynecologist clears you for physical activity. Always listen to your body and avoid any strenuous workouts.
