How to control weight gain during pregnancy?

I'm in my second trimester, and my doctor mentioned I should watch my weight gain. I don't want to gain too much, but also want to eat enough for the baby. Any tips on how to control weight gain during pregnancy?

During my time, elders would say eat for two, but that is not correct. Just eat normal home-cooked food and keep yourself active with light household work if your health allows. But if you see sudden swelling in your feet or face, please inform your doctor immediately.

I was reading about this for my wife's pregnancy and found out that we only need about 300 extra calories in the second and third trimesters. It seems it is more about the quality of food rather than the quantity.

I tracked my daily meals on a health app during my pregnancy to ensure I was hitting my protein goals without overeating carbs. Keeping an eye on portion sizes and tracking my water intake really helped me stay within the healthy weight range.

I totally get it, seeing the numbers on the scale go up can be very stressful when you are pregnant. Just focus on nourishing your baby with fruits and whole grains rather than sweet cravings. Be gentle with yourself during this beautiful phase.

I am in my second trimester and I feel like I'm gaining weight so fast, it makes me really nervous. Does anyone else also feel hungry all the time? I want to stay healthy but I am scared of overeating.

I had gestational diabetes during my pregnancy, so weight management became a medical necessity for me. Please do not try any diet on your own while pregnant. Consult your gynecologist or a clinical nutritionist who can guide you safely.
