How to avoid weight gain on methimazole?

My thyroid levels were high, so the doctor started me on Methimazole. My friend who took it before said she gained a lot of weight. I don't want that to happen; what can I do?

My endocrinologist explained that sometimes the weight gain on Methimazole isn't from the drug itself, but because the hyperthyroidism symptoms (like rapid metabolism) are getting controlled, so your body returns to a 'normal' metabolic rate. She advised focusing on portion control, lean proteins, and complex carbs. Regular blood tests are essential to monitor thyroid levels.

Haha, so now my thyroid meds are trying to make me rounder? What a betrayal! But seriously, don't stress too much. Maybe it's just your body getting back to normal. Just swap out those extra gulab jamuns for some fruit, and you'll be fine. Or at least, less round!

Methimazole... okay. My go-to is always using a calorie tracker and making sure I'm hitting my protein goals. It helps with satiety. Also, integrating at least 30 mins of moderate activity, like a quick power walk, into my daily routine. Consistency is key!

As a working professional, I barely have time for elaborate diets or gym routines. For Methimazole-related weight concerns, I'd suggest meal prepping on weekends. Also, take the stairs instead of the elevator, and use lunch breaks for a quick walk. Small, consistent efforts fit into a busy schedule.

I've tried so many home remedies for different things, but for something like Methimazole, you need proper guidance. Maybe try incorporating some easy home-based exercises like walking or yoga. For diet, focus on fresh, seasonal fruits and vegetables. But please, consult your doctor or a dietician for a tailored plan, don't just rely on general tips.

I can only share my own experience, not medical advice. When I was on similar meds, I found that being very strict about my meal timings helped me a lot. No late-night eating at all. And I tried to get at least 7 hours of sleep. Everyone is different though.

Sunn behen, dawaai se vajan badhta hai toh usko control karna padega. Khana theek se khaao, bahar ka kam. Aur doctor se toh zaroor baat karna is baare mein. Zyada socho mat, bas dhyan rakho apna.

As a diabetic, I'm always very careful about what I eat and how it affects my weight and sugar levels. With Methimazole, it's doubly important to monitor your diet. Cut out refined sugars and focus on whole, unprocessed foods. Also, keep your doctor informed about any weight changes, they might need to adjust your medication or diet plan.

Haan ji, thyroid ki dawai se thoda weight ka issue ho sakta hai. Mere neighbour ko bhi hua tha. Usne bola ki doctor ne bola hai bahar ka khaana bilkul band, aur ghar pe hi healthy food banao. Aur paani bohot peeyo. Na, tension mat lena, bas dhyan rakho.

Oh, Methimazole making you hungry for more? Happens to the best of us! I'd say, try to trick your brain. If you're craving something, go for a healthier version. Like, instead of ice cream, maybe a fruit smoothie? And always have healthy snacks ready so you don't reach for junk.
