How much metformin to take for weight loss?

My gynaecologist suggested metformin might help with my weight, especially with my PCOS. I'm trying to lose some weight, but she didn't specify the dosage for weight loss. Could someone tell me how much is generally recommended for this purpose?

Don't just pop metformin for weight loss, bro. My doctor prescribed me 500mg because of my borderline sugar levels, and it made me super nauseous for the first week. It's not a shortcut to get ripped.

I take Metformin 1000mg daily for my type 2 diabetes. While it helped me shed some weight initially, it is a serious prescription medicine that can drop your B12 levels. Do not take it without your endocrinologist's advice.

Please don't use diabetes meds for weight loss on your own! Try focus on a healthy diet and fun workouts instead. Your body will thank you! 😊

I was also thinking of asking my doctor for metformin, but I read it can cause bad stomach issues and lactic acidosis if you have kidney problems. Please get a full blood panel done before deciding anything.

With my hypothyroid, losing weight is very hard, but taking metformin without prescription is risky. You should get your fasting insulin and thyroid levels tested first, then let your doctor decide the exact dosage.
