About 10% to 15% of pregnant women in India develop gestational diabetes. Since I already manage a thyroid condition, my doctor was very strict about regular glucose tolerance tests during my pregnancy. It is absolutely essential to follow up with your doctor regularly to keep both baby and mother safe.

Yes, it affects around 1 in 10 pregnant women. Getting a regular oral glucose tolerance test around the 24th week is highly recommended.

I read that almost 15% of women get it, and now I am so anxious about my upcoming test next week. Did anyone else feel extremely nervous before their sugar test, and how did you manage your diet to keep the results normal?

It affects about 10-15% of moms-to-be! Don't worry at all, even if you get it, it can be easily managed with a healthy diet and some daily light walking.

A good percentage of women face this, especially in India due to our carb-heavy diets. During my wife's pregnancy, we simply swapped white rice with brown rice and cut down on direct sweets, which kept her sugar levels perfectly stable.
