How many hours sleep for weight loss?

I've started exercising and watching my diet for weight loss, and my trainer mentioned that sleep is also a big factor. How many hours of sleep are recommended for weight loss, or does it even make a difference?

Hi! Many people ask this. While sleep isn't a direct weight loss tool, it absolutely supports it. When you're sleep-deprived, your body produces more ghrelin (hunger hormone) and less leptin (satiety hormone). So, aiming for a consistent 7-9 hours helps regulate your appetite and reduces cravings. It's a crucial part of a healthy lifestyle for weight management.

My mother always said good sleep cleanses the body. And yes, doctors also say sleep is very important for overall health, including metabolism. While there isn't a specific 'weight loss' number of hours, generally 7-9 hours of quality sleep helps a lot. It balances hormones that control hunger.

The doctors at Apollo told me that sufficient sleep (around 7-9 hours for adults) is foundational for metabolic health. It impacts hormone regulation, which in turn influences appetite and fat storage. If you're specifically struggling with weight and sleep, discuss this with your physician or a nutritionist. They can give tailored advice.

It's so frustrating when you're doing everything right for weight loss, and still struggle, only to realize later that sleep plays such a huge role! I totally get it. Not getting enough sleep made me feel emotional and I'd just want to comfort eat. Giving yourself that 7-9 hours isn't a luxury, it's essential for your well-being and weight goals.

I was stuck at a weight loss plateau for ages. My trainer finally pushed me to improve my sleep. I started aiming for 8 hours instead of my usual 6.5. Within a month, I saw a noticeable difference in my energy, my cravings reduced, and the scale started moving again. It’s seriously a game-changer.

I tried all sorts of things for weight loss, and I realized proper sleep was a missing link. When I was tired, I'd reach for quick snacks more often. Now I aim for at least 7.5 hours. A little warm turmeric milk before bed also helps me sleep soundly. It makes a real difference in controlling my hunger the next day.
