How many carbs in a low carb diet for diabetics?

I'm exploring a low-carb diet to manage my diabetes better. Can anyone guide me on how many carbs are usually recommended in a low-carb diet specifically for diabetics?

I went on a low carb diet for my diabetes and kept my daily intake around 70 to 90 grams. It really helped drop my daily blood sugar levels, but honestly, it takes a lot of discipline. You should definitely check with your doctor first because it can cause sudden drops if you are on meds.

A low carb diet usually means keeping carbohydrates under 100 grams a day. Please take things slow and consult your doctor to find a safe and comfortable path for yourself.

At Manipal Hospital, my physician emphasized that a 'low carb' diet can range anywhere from 50 to 100 grams daily, but it must be medically supervised. Going too low while on diabetes medication can be highly risky. Please ask your doctor to define a safe limit for you.

I am planning to lower my carbs to around 80g a day, but I am so worried it might make me feel dizzy or weak. Did anyone else experience heavy fatigue when they first cut down their carbs? I want to make sure this is safe before I start.

At my age, I have realized that extreme low carb diets are very hard to maintain long term. Keeping carbs around 100 grams daily is safe and keeps you healthy without losing your strength. Stay consistent, eat simple home food, and trust your doctor.

I tried various home diets and found that keeping carbs around 90-100 grams is quite practical if you replace rice with daliya and chew some methi seeds. But remember, home changes only help to a limit. Always take your doctor's advice and continue your regular checkups.

Restricting carbs too much can cause hypoglycemia, which is extremely dangerous. Before you start any low carb diet, please get your kidney function and HbA1c checked by a certified professional. Don't experiment without proper medical clearance.

For a low carb diet, you don't need to buy expensive imported oats or quinoa. Just reducing your regular wheat rotis and increasing the quantity of local green vegetables to keep carbs around 100g is a very cheap and workable solution for any family.
