How long to wait for dental treatment after heart attack?

My father had a heart attack two months ago, and his teeth are really bothering him now. The dentist said he needs a root canal, but we're worried about his heart. Is there a safe waiting period after a heart attack before he can get dental work done?

Honestly, this phase is so tough and scary to deal with, I completely understand your state of mind. My uncle went through this last year and we were terrified of even getting his routine dental cleaning done. Please dont stress too much, just focus on recovery first and let the experts handle the timing.

It is definitely scary to plan any surgery after such a big health event. Do not rush into anything without your cardiologists permission.

Oh god, dental issues mean no proper street food or spicy chaat for some time, which is a real punishment! But seriously, your heart health comes way before any tasty food. Wait it out and eat soft khichdi or dahi rice for a few months until your cardiologist gives the green light.

Managing post-attack recovery requires a lot of regular blood tests and doctor follow-ups, just like I have to constantly monitor my thyroid levels. Your body's internal balance is very delicate right now. Please get your regular blood work done and consult your specialist before booking any dental chair time.

Please be extremely careful with this, as my father had some blood pressure spikes when we tried to get his tooth checked too early. Do not take any chances or rely on general advice here. Go talk to your cardiologist and let them coordinate directly with your dentist.

Welcome to the group, and don't worry, you are on the path to recovery now. Usually, standard practice is to wait at least 6 months for any routine dental treatments after a cardiac event. Just keep your dentist and cardiologist in the loop so they can safely manage your blood thinners.

When my father had a mild heart attack, we asked his doctor the exact same question because he had a bad toothache. The cardiologist explained that we must wait at least 6 months for any non-emergency dental work. They said the blood thinners and the healing heart make it risky, so definitely consult your own doctor first.

I totally get your panic because health anxiety can make you overthink every small symptom or appointment after a major scare. It is completely normal to feel terrified about how dental anesthesia or pain might affect your heart now. Take a deep breath and just call your cardiologist to clear this doubt so you can sleep peacefully.

Haan na, it is very risky to do any dental work so soon after a heart attack. Mere mama ko bhi bola tha doctor ne ki minimum six months wait karna padega. Risk nahi lene ka bilkul, ho na? Pehle checkup kara lo unse properly.

Haan bhai, jaldbazi bilkul mat karna isme kyunki blood thinners chal rahe hote hain heart attack ke baad. Dentists normally cleanings ya extraction ke liye mana hi karte hain starting ke mahino mein. Doctor se pooch kar hi aage badhna, thoda wait kar lo na.
