How long does dental injection site pain last?

I just had a dental procedure, and the injection site is still quite sore. It's been a few hours, and I'm a bit uncomfortable. How long does dental injection site pain typically last? Should I be worried?

I totally get it, that throbbing pain in the gums after the numbness wears off is so annoying! For me, the injection site pain usually lasts about 2 to 3 days. Putting a warm compress on your cheek can really help soothe that soreness.

My dentist told me that mild soreness at the injection site can stay for 3 to 5 days, which is quite normal. Since I have PCOS, I try to avoid inflammatory foods during this time to help my body heal better. Just try to eat soft foods and don't worry too much.

I had a root canal last month and the injection spot hurt for like 2 days whenever I tried to chew. It is super annoying but it goes away quickly. Just stick to ice cream and cold milkshakes for a day, it really helps!

Expect the soreness to last about 48 hours, though it shouldn't affect your work much. I just took a basic painkiller as advised by my dentist and stuck to cold soups so I didn't lose focus during meetings. If it throbs badly past day 3, give your clinic a call.

The local soreness typically fades away in 2 to 3 days. Because pain can sometimes temporarily elevate blood pressure, I make sure to practice calm breathing and take my prescribed BP meds on time. If you notice any swelling or pus, please check back with your dentist.
