How effective is pilates for weight loss?

I'm looking for a new exercise routine to help me lose weight and improve my flexibility. A friend recommended Pilates, but I'm not sure how effective it is specifically for weight loss. Can Pilates really help shed kilos?

Hey, don't stress too much about losing weight fast! Pilates is amazing for toning up and strengthening your core, but you have to combine it with a good calorie deficit. It makes you feel super active and flexible, so definitely give it a shot without putting pressure on yourself.

Haan, pilates toh achha hai body shaping ke liye, par sirf isse weight loss nahi hoga na. You need to control your diet also, simple home food is best. It really helps to tuck your tummy in and improves posture, par heavy sweating waali high-intensity workout nahi hai yeh.

I actually joined a pilates class last month but felt like I wasn't burning as many calories as cardio. Did anyone else feel the same in the beginning? I am worried I am doing it wrong or wasting time if weight loss is my main goal.

Pilates is very similar to yogic stretching and focus on the core muscles. In my journey, I found that slow, mindful movements help regulate cortisol levels, which naturally aids in fat loss. Focus on the breathing and precision rather than just calorie count.

Totally agree with others here. Pilates is excellent for core strength and inch loss, even if the scale doesn't drop instantly.

As someone working 10-hour days, I find 45-minute pilates sessions very efficient for overall fitness. But realistically, for weight loss, you need to manage your kitchen. Don't rely solely on 3 classes a week; try to hit your daily steps target too.
