How does intermittent fasting help weight loss?

A lot of my friends have started intermittent fasting, and they're all talking about how much weight they've lost. I'm curious to try it myself, but I want to understand the mechanism. How exactly does intermittent fasting help a person lose weight?

Intermittent fasting works by keeping your insulin levels low for a long duration, which allows your body to tap into stored fat for energy. However, it is not a one-size-fits-all solution. It is always wise to consult a doctor or a certified nutritionist before starting, especially if you have any underlying issues.

It really helps restrict your calorie intake naturally since your eating window is smaller. But make sure when you break your fast, you eat wholesome vegetarian food like dal, paneer, and veggies. Don't break it with deep-fried snacks, otherwise the whole point is lost.

It worked wonders for me! Doing the 16:8 routine basically stopped my midnight kitchen trips. I feel much lighter and have so much more energy during the day now. Just stay hydrated during the fasting hours!

I discussed intermittent fasting with my doctor at Jupiter Hospital. He advised against it initially because of my acidity issues. I highly recommend asking your doctor clearly if your digestive system can handle long fasting windows before you try it.

While fasting can help reduce weight and manage blood pressure, sudden long fasts can sometimes cause electrolyte imbalances. Along with fasting, regular BP checks and a low-sodium diet are crucial. Always combine lifestyle changes with routine doctor visits.

Please be careful. I blindly did 18-hour fasts without checking my health status and ended up with severe gallbladder issues and nutritional deficiencies. Get a basic blood test and talk to a professional first. Don't ignore what your body is trying to tell you.

For working professionals, it is actually quite practical because you save time on breakfast prep. I just skip breakfast, eat lunch at 1 PM, and finish dinner by 9 PM. It fits perfectly into a busy routine without needing complex meal prep.
