How does a pregnant belly feel in early pregnancy?

I'm in my early weeks of pregnancy, and everything feels new. My lower abdomen feels a little different sometimes, but I'm not sure what to expect. How does a pregnant belly typically feel in early pregnancy?

When my wife was in her first few weeks, her belly didn't really show or feel hard at all. She mostly felt super bloated and had mild cramping, almost like her periods were coming. It takes a few months before the belly actually feels firm.

During early pregnancy, the belly feels soft and often quite bloated due to hormonal changes slowing down digestion. You might experience some mild cramping as the uterus begins to stretch. If you ever experience severe, sharp pain on one side or heavy bleeding, please contact your doctor immediately.

In the early weeks, your uterus is still tucked inside the pelvis, so your belly won't feel hard or different to touch. Any tightness or fullness you feel is just bloating from progesterone hormones. Don't expect a firm baby bump until you are well into your second trimester.

I kept touching my stomach every hour in the first month expecting it to feel different, but it was just soft and incredibly bloated. I got so anxious thinking something was wrong, but my doctor reassured me it's totally normal. Just take a deep breath, it takes time for the actual firm bump to develop.

In the initial weeks, the abdomen feels very soft and slightly distended due to the natural slowing of your digestive fire. Gentle breathing and keeping your body relaxed can help ease the gas and bloating. Listen to your body and give it time to adjust to this beautiful change.

I am in my sixth week now and my stomach just feels very heavy and full, almost like I ate too much. Is it normal to not have any hardness at all at this stage? I would love to know when it actually starts feeling like a proper baby bump.

For me, it just felt bloated and slightly tender in the beginning, which is very normal. But please, if you feel any severe cramping or spotting, do not ignore it like I once did thinking it's just gas. Always get a quick scan done by your gynecologist to ensure everything is progressing safely.
