Does weight loss lower a1c?

My recent check-up showed my A1C levels are borderline high, which worries me about diabetes. My doctor suggested focusing on weight management. I want to know if weight loss can significantly help in lowering my A1C levels and keep me away from diabetes.

Yes, losing weight significantly improves insulin sensitivity, which directly helps in lowering your HbA1c levels. However, you should work closely with your doctor to adjust any diabetes medications as your weight drops.

My physician explained that losing even 5-10% of your body weight can drastically reduce liver fat, which helps control blood sugar. My own HbA1c dropped beautifully after managing my weight.

I tried all kinds of karela juice and methi seeds, but my HbA1c only came down from 8.2 to 6.5 when I lost 7 kgs. Weight loss is the most effective remedy, honestly.

Yes, even small changes help. When we managed my young daughter's weight through home-cooked meals and less junk, her sugar levels became much more stable.

Losing weight is very good for A1C, but please make sure you monitor your blood sugar regularly during the process. Sudden drops can be dangerous, so keep your doctor informed.

My dad was struggling with high A1C, and the doctor told him to lose weight. We started walking together after dinner, and his reports have improved a lot now.

It was so hard to say no to sweets, but dropping a few kilos actually brought my A1C down to normal. Now I enjoy my small treats occasionally without feeling guilty!

It definitely does. My A1C went from 7.8 to 5.9 after I lost 9 kgs. Focus on portion control and walking 45 minutes every day, and you will see the results.

I was so scared when my A1C touch 7.2, I couldn't sleep. But trust me, once you start losing even a little weight, the numbers start coming down, so please don't panic.

My diabetologist at Medanta clearly said that weight loss is the primary way to reverse prediabetes. Get a proper diet plan from a professional rather than following online trends.
