Does weight loss help plantar fasciitis?

I've been suffering from plantar fasciitis for months now, and the pain in my heel is really bothering me. Someone told me that losing weight could alleviate the pressure on my feet and help with the pain. Is this true for plantar fasciitis?

Yes, son, it makes a huge difference. When I lost about 8 kgs in my 50s, that sharp morning pain in my heels simply vanished because there was much less weight pressing on my feet.

I love my late-night kachoris, but when my heels started burning like crazy every morning, I had to cut down. Losing some weight really saved my feet, though my stomach still misses the samosas!

I had such terrible heel pain that I thought I would never walk properly again. I got so worried, but honestly, once I focused on slowly dropping some weight, the pressure on my fascia decreased and the pain subsided.

I panicked and thought I had some bone spurs or serious nerve damage when my heel started hurting. It turned out to be normal plantar fasciitis, and just reducing 5 kgs and wearing good slippers at home completely fixed it.

I used to get bad heel pain after wearing flats. Losing a bit of weight and switching to orthotic insoles really did the trick for me. It takes time, but it works!

I tried warm water dips, mustard oil massages, and everything else, but the pain only reduced when I shed some weight. Our feet carry our entire body weight, so keeping it light is the best cure.

Yes, weight loss is crucial for this. For every kilo you lose, you reduce a lot of pressure on your feet. Combine weight loss with silicone heel pads, and you'll see great relief.

Between handling a crying baby at night and waking up to sharp heel pain in the morning, I am exhausted. But losing a few kgs definitely helped ease the pressure on my poor feet.

I ignored my mild heel pain and kept walking on hard surfaces, which made it so bad I couldn't walk for weeks. Please get it checked by an orthopedist early and start working on weight management alongside.

That first step out of bed in the morning can feel so agonizing, I completely understand your pain. Losing weight definitely takes the load off your heels, so try to focus on low-impact exercises that don't stress your feet.

Don't push yourself to do heavy jumps or runs right now, it will only hurt your heels more. Focus on a clean diet to drop a few kilos first, and use soft footwear inside the house to protect your feet.

I cannot give any medical tips, but for me, dropping around 6 kgs and doing regular calf stretches really helped reduce my morning heel pain.
