Does weight loss help lower cholesterol?

My recent blood test showed my cholesterol levels are a bit high, and the doctor suggested I manage my weight. I want to know if losing some kgs really makes a significant impact on lowering cholesterol. Can just weight loss help, ya is it more complicated?

Absolutely, it does. My cholesterol levels were sky-high last year, but after I lost about 7 kgs by cutting out deep-fried snacks and walking daily, my lipid profile came back completely normal.

Yes, even a small weight drop makes a difference. My teenage son had high cholesterol due to poor diet, and once we worked on his weight with home food and outdoor play, his levels improved significantly.

No need for expensive diets, just reduce oil and sugar in your daily meals and walk for 45 minutes. My high cholesterol dropped naturally once I lost 5 kgs using this simple routine.

Losing weight definitely helps, but please get a proper lipid profile test done first. My doctor at Medanta explained that genetics also play a role, so consult your doctor to see if you need medication along with lifestyle changes.
