Does weight loss decrease blood pressure?

Lately, my blood pressure has been a bit high, and the doctor suggested I try to lose some weight. I'm wondering how much of a difference it actually makes. Can losing weight really help in decreasing high blood pressure significantly?

Yes, absolutely. I managed to drop my systolic reading by nearly 10 points just by losing 8 kgs. Focus on cutting sodium, doing 30 minutes of cardio daily, and keeping your stress levels low. The physical relief is real.

At my age, we have seen how weight affects everything. When I brought my weight down in my 50s, my doctor reduced my daily BP dosage significantly. Trust the process, eat simple home-cooked meals, and walk every morning.

Yes, medically speaking, every kilogram of weight loss can lower your blood pressure by about 1 mmHg. It is a highly efficient way to manage hypertension. Cut out processed foods, start strength training, and track your readings.

My doctor told me to lose weight to help control my borderline high BP, but I am finding it quite stressful to start. Has anyone here actually managed to avoid taking BP medicines just by losing weight?

Losing weight definitely keeps the BP machine happy, haha! Every kg lost is like taking a load off the heart. Just don't stress about the scale too much, or your BP will rise from the stress of weighing yourself!
