Does tricare cover weight loss pills?

I've been trying to lose weight for ages, and now my doctor is suggesting weight loss pills. I'm wondering if health insurance policies typically cover them. Do plans like Tricare offer coverage for weight loss pills?

From what I was reading online, Tricare does cover some prescription weight loss pills like Xenical or Qsymia, but they definitely don't cover over-the-counter diet supplements. You also need a prior authorization from your doctor showing clinical need.

I totally get it, navigating insurance to find out what is covered can feel so overwhelming when you are just trying to manage your health. Tricare does cover certain prescription pills, so please talk to your doctor's office to help you with the paperwork.

I am also looking into this because I want to start my health journey, but I am a bit confused. Does Tricare cover these pills fully, or do we still have to pay a co-pay at the pharmacy? If anyone has used this benefit, please let me know.

They cover some prescription pills, but getting the approval is a long process. Honestly, before dealing with all that insurance paperwork, trying a simple diet adjustment and daily walking is much more practical and won't cost you a paisa.

My family always tells me to rely on traditional home-cooked meals for managing weight, but sometimes medical help is necessary. Tricare does cover a few specific weight loss pills under their plan. It is best to consult your doctor to see if these are safe for your body.
