Does sweating correlate to weight loss?

When I exercise, I sweat profusely, and I usually feel lighter afterward. I'm tracking my fitness progress and wondering if sweating directly correlates to weight loss.

There is a huge misconception about this. Sweating is simply your body's way of cooling itself down, not a sign of fat burning. You can burn a lot of calories swimming or walking in cold weather without sweating much at all.

I totally get it, we always see fitness ads with people covered in sweat and think that is the goal. But honestly, it is just water weight that comes back once you hydrate. Don't push yourself to sweat excessively, just focus on consistent movement.

Bro, if sweating was equal to weight loss, Delhi summers would have made me look like a model by now. It is just water leaving the body, real fat loss needs actual gym sessions and eating less junk.

Let us be clear: sweating is not equal to fat loss. You are just losing water, which you will drink back anyway. Do proper strength training and eat clean if you want real results.

Actually yaar, sweating just means you are hot. You can lose fat even while working out in an AC gym without sweating a drop. Don't worry about how much you sweat, just track your food intake.

With my high blood pressure, sweating too much can actually be dangerous as it leads to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance. I always make sure to drink water with a bit of salt or coconut water during my daily walks to keep my levels stable.

Correct, there is no direct correlation. Sweating is just fluid loss, while weight loss requires a calorie deficit.

I once wore heavy sweat-suits during my workouts to lose weight faster and ended up fainting from severe dehydration. Please don't force your body to sweat excessively. If you are struggling with weight, consult a qualified dietitian instead.
