Does sodium prevent weight loss?

I'm doing my best to lose weight, but sometimes it feels like I hit a plateau. I heard that too much sodium can prevent weight loss. Is this true, and if so, how does it work?

Our bodies sometimes hold onto water when we eat too much salt, which is just a temporary phase. Stay positive, keep eating simple, fresh meals cooked with care, and let your body balance itself naturally. Take care of your health.

Sodium doesn't prevent actual fat loss, but it makes you hold water, which shows up as weight gain on the scale. Since I have thyroid issues, my weight fluctuates easily, so I keep salt moderate. If your weight is stuck, do get your thyroid checked just in case.

Sodium doesn't stop your body from burning fat, but it can lead to water retention, which makes it look like you aren't losing weight. It is best to consult a registered dietician or your doctor to understand how to balance your electrolytes while trying to lose weight.

When I had my checkup at the hospital, the doctor clearly explained that high sodium causes water retention, which hides your real fat loss progress. I suggest asking your doctor or a qualified dietician about your daily sodium limits for a proper plan.

Sodium has zero calories, so it won't stop you from losing fat. But if you eat salty snacks, your body will absorb water like a sponge and make you look bloated. It is a cruel joke of nature, but drinking more water actually helps flush it out!
