Does salt help weight loss?
I saw an article online claiming that proper salt intake can actually be beneficial for weight loss. Is there any scientific basis to this? I always thought salt was something to reduce when trying to lose weight.

Honestly, salt has nothing to do with burning fat. My teenager was trying all these weird internet salt diets and got so weak. Please focus on proper homemade food and some active play or walking instead of these shortcuts.
Bro, if salt helped with weight loss, I would be the thinnest guy in Pune with all the chaat and chips I eat! Actually, too much salt just makes you bloat up and hold water weight. Better to keep it balanced and enjoy your meals in limit.
I track all my macros on MyFitnessPal and from what I have logged, high sodium just leads to water retention. When you scale down your salt, your weight might drop suddenly on the machine but that is just water loss, not fat loss. Focus on a calorie deficit instead.
Don't get swayed by what you see online. Excess salt is actually bad for your blood pressure and heart in the long run. Just stick to a balanced diet and some light exercise, your body will slowly reach its natural weight.
I can't give any scientific advice, but in my own weight loss journey, keeping salt moderate was what worked for me. Whenever I ate too much salty food at night, the scale would show one kg extra the next morning. So I just stick to normal limits.
Haha, if only! I would have replaced my water bottle with nimbu paani and extra namak long ago. Don't fall for these myths, you will just end up feeling super thirsty and bloated.
Listen, don't stress too much about these weird hacks. Salt won't magically melt your fat away, yaa. Just eat normal ghar ka khana with normal salt, go for a walk, and be happy!

At 52, my doctor tells me to cut salt for my BP, and here you are asking if it helps lose weight! Trust me, the only thing salt does is make the food taste good, it won't help you fit into your old jeans.
I tried cutting out salt completely last year thinking it would help me lose weight faster. Honestly, I just felt extremely dizzy, weak, and had bad muscle cramps. Balance is key, don't mess with your electrolytes.
With my PCOS, I have to be very careful with salt because water retention makes me feel so heavy and swollen. It definitely doesn't help with weight loss, at least in my experience. Always better to consult a dietician who understands your body type.
