Does rice help with weight loss?

I'm trying to lose weight, and I hear so many conflicting things about rice – some say it's bad, some say it's good. Can eating rice, especially brown rice, actually help with weight loss when consumed in the right way?

It can be part of a weight loss diet if you limit the portion size. Just be gentle with yourself on this fitness journey.

You don't need to buy expensive quinoa or exotic grains for weight loss, which just ruins the monthly budget. Simple local white or brown rice in small, measured portions with plenty of cheap vegetables works perfectly fine.

I lost ten kilos without giving up rice. The trick is to treat rice as a side dish and make vegetables and lentils the main portion of your plate. Keep the quantity to one small cup only.

Actually yaar, completely quitting rice makes me so cranky and hungry. I just restrict it to lunchtime and eat simple chapati at night. It is much easier to sustain weight loss this way, honestly.

You can definitely eat rice and still lose fat, provided you are active. I eat a small bowl of rice post-workout, combined with a 45-minute brisk walk daily. Just make sure your doctor clears you for regular cardio exercise.

At our lifestyle clinic, we suggest that rice itself doesn't stop weight loss, but the overall calorie deficit is what matters. You should clearly ask your doctor or a qualified nutritionist to design a customized calorie plan for you.
