Does prozac help with weight loss?

Struggling with both depression and unwanted weight, it's affecting my quality of life. My doctor recommended Prozac for my mood. I was hoping it might also have some benefit for weight loss; is that possible?

It is not meant for weight loss. Some people lose appetite as a side effect initially, but using an antidepressant for weight management is highly impractical and risky. Better to stick to diet and exercise.

Please be very careful. Prozac is a serious prescription medicine for anxiety and depression. Do not take it or expect it to help with weight loss without getting a proper evaluation from your doctor.

I agree with others, it is definitely not a weight loss pill. Focus on natural healthy eating instead.

I have thyroid and know how hard weight loss is, but using psychiatric drugs is not the way. Get your thyroid and hormone levels tested regularly and follow up with a proper endocrinologist.

While clinical studies show temporary weight changes with Prozac, it is strictly prescribed for mental health conditions. Relying on it for weight loss is medically unsound; a doctor's advice is always best here.

Haha, if only curing depression also gave us a perfect beach body automatically! It might suppress hunger for a bit, but it is definitely not a shortcut to losing weight.

I tried so many home remedies like green tea and warm water for weight loss, which are much safer. Please don't take strong hospital medicines for this. Eat healthy, home-cooked food instead.
