Does ohp cover ozempic for weight loss?

I've heard a lot about Ozempic for weight loss recently, even internationally. My sister-in-law, who lives in Oregon, was wondering if her OHP health plan covers this medication. Can anyone tell me if OHP generally covers Ozempic for weight loss purposes?

I was looking into this too because Ozempic is so expensive out of pocket. Has anyone here actually managed to get OHP approval for weight loss, or do they only allow it for type 2 diabetes? I am really worried about getting rejected.

Ozempic without insurance will put a massive hole in your monthly budget. Usually, state plans like OHP require strict prior authorization and proof of metabolic issues. Check if your doctor can prescribe cheaper generic alternatives first to save on your medical bills.

Getting these heavy injections covered is very tough unless you have severe diabetes. While you figure out the insurance, try incorporating some ginger water and daily fiber into your diet to help with digestion. It's a slower process but very gentle on your pocket and body.

From what I've tracked in health forums, OHP has very strict guidelines and usually doesn't cover Ozempic solely for weight loss without a type 2 diabetes diagnosis. You might want to use an app to track your daily calorie deficit and steps while you wait for their official coverage list.

Relying on strong diabetic medications for weight management can sometimes disturb our natural body rhythms. I found that daily Kapalbhati and regular walking did wonders for my slow metabolism. Do look into insurance, but try some gentle daily yoga as well for holistic health.
