Does metformin 500 cause weight loss?

I started taking metformin for my diabetes a few months ago, and I've actually lost a little bit of weight. I was wondering if this medicine itself helps with weight loss, or if it's just my diet changes.

I was prescribed Metformin 500 for my PCOS, and honestly, it did help me lose a few kilos over a few months. But my doctor told me it's not actually a weight loss pill. It just helps control your insulin levels, which makes it easier for your body to manage weight when you eat healthy.

I was so anxious when I started taking this because I read so many different things online about side effects and weight loss. I did lose a tiny bit of weight, but I think it was mostly because it reduced my appetite. Just make sure to monitor how your stomach feels and don't skip meals.

Your body has its own natural intelligence to balance itself when you take care of it. Metformin can help correct the internal sugar balance, which might lead to some natural weight reduction. Stay positive, keep your mind calm, and let the medicine work along with your healthy habits.

I can only share what happened in my case. I have been taking Metformin 500 once daily for my borderline diabetes. My weight dropped by about 3 kgs over six months, but I also stopped eating sweets completely. It might differ for everyone depending on their lifestyle.

I track all my health metrics, and when I was on Metformin 500, my fasting insulin levels improved, which showed up as a steady, slow weight decline on my smart scale. It is a very gradual process, usually a couple of kgs over several months, and it only works if you are tracking your calorie intake too.

I completely understand if you are hoping for some weight loss with this, as managing insulin resistance is incredibly frustrating. For me, the weight loss was very mild, maybe 2-3 kgs, but it really helped stabilize my energy levels. Don't worry, just give your body some time to adjust to it.
