Does metamucil help with weight loss?

My friend recently started taking Metamucil and said it helped her lose some weight. I'm trying to reduce a few kilos myself. Is this true, can it really help with weight loss?

Let's be clear, Metamucil is just a psyllium husk fiber supplement, not a magic fat burner. Yes, it can make you feel full and curb your appetite, which indirectly helps with portion control. But don't expect it to melt away fat unless you are actually on a calorie deficit.

My doctor at Medanta explained that while fiber is great for digestion and managing cholesterol, Metamucil is not indicated as a weight loss drug. Taking too much of it without enough water can cause severe constipation or blockages. You should consult a clinical nutritionist to get a proper diet plan.

Look, it is basically just 'Isabgol' in a fancy packaging. It helps clear your stomach and keeps you full, so you don't overeat during meals. But if you keep eating junk and just drink this, nothing will happen. Focus on your regular diet and exercise first.

It can help with satiety because fiber slows down digestion, which keeps those random cravings away. I sometimes use psyllium husk in my diet too. But honestly, you get much better nutrients from whole foods like oats, veggies, and fruits. Use it as a supplement, not a shortcut.

In our younger days, we just took a spoonful of Isabgol with warm milk or water to keep the stomach clean. A clean digestion naturally makes you feel lighter and more active. Don't go after fancy weight loss claims, just focus on keeping your digestion healthy and walking daily.
