Does meridian cover weight loss medication?

Struggling with my weight for a long time, my doctor suggested looking into prescription weight loss medications. Before I pursue this further, I need to understand the financial aspect. Can anyone tell me if Meridian insurance generally covers weight loss medications as part of their health plans?

Bro, they do cover some basic weight loss pills but the newer injections are very hard to get approved. My doctor had to fill out a massive prior authorization form and they still rejected the first try. You really have to show that nothing else worked for you.

Don't worry too much, many people face this confusion with insurance plans. Yes, Meridian does cover certain weight loss medications, but they have very specific criteria like BMI limits and prior trial of lifestyle changes. Let your doctor handle the medical justification, they know the process well.

I just got my coverage approved last month after a long struggle. The trick is having your doctor clearly document your health risks, like high cholesterol or blood pressure, along with your BMI. Once we submitted those complete medical records, the approval came in a week.

I am so anxious about my upcoming appointment because I really need these medications but cannot afford them out-of-pocket. Did anyone else feel incredibly stressed waiting for their insurance approval? Please tell me if they reject a lot of people.

Yes, they do cover some options, but it requires a lot of paperwork from your doctor's end. Take it one step at a time and don't lose hope. I hope you get the support you need soon.

Dealing with insurance companies is a bigger workout than actually going to the gym! They do cover some meds, but they expect you to prove you've been eating grass and running marathons first. Just get your doc to write a very convincing letter and hope for the best.
