Does medimpact cover weight loss medication?

I'm currently looking into different weight loss medications and also reviewing my company's health insurance policy. My plan is managed by 'MedImpact' (a PBM, but let's assume it's just my insurance provider's name in this context). Does my 'MedImpact' policy cover weight loss medication?

Honestly, it totally depends on the specific plan your parents or college signed up for. Most basic MedImpact plans don't cover weight loss drugs because they classify them as lifestyle meds. You should log into their online portal to check your plan's drug list directly.

When I asked my consultant about this, they told me to check our policy's formulary list through MedImpact. Some premium plans do cover them with a doctor's special recommendation, but many basic ones don't. Ask your doctor to check if they can suggest an alternative that is covered.

These modern insurance managers usually don't pay for weight loss tablets. In our days, we relied on eating light meals before sunset and drinking warm water with ginger. Try these traditional habits while you sort out your insurance details with the company.

Usually, weight loss meds are not covered under their standard lists, but it can vary. I hope you get the clarity you need from them soon, take care.
