Does medicare cover weight loss shots?

Heard about some new weight loss shots that are getting popular abroad. I'm wondering if such weight loss treatments, specifically injections, are covered by Indian health insurance policies. The costs could be high without coverage.

Haha, if weight loss injections were covered easily, we'd all be walking around looking like Bollywood stars on govt expense! Seriously though, these new shots are super expensive and usually not covered unless it's strictly for serious diabetes.

I have been hearing so much about these weight loss injections lately but I am honestly terrified of the side effects. Has anyone here actually used them? Do the doctors even recommend them for general weight loss or is it only for medical emergencies?

Generally, basic health plans do not cover cosmetic or simple weight management medications. However, if the same medicine is prescribed under a different name for diabetes management, it might be covered. It's always best to ask your treating doctor to coordinate with your insurance desk.

I track my daily health stats on my smartwatch and keep reading up on new medical tech. From what I've tracked in insurance policy updates, these obesity shots like Wegovy are generally excluded from basic government and private formulary lists unless linked to comorbid conditions. Better to check the exact policy document.

Hey, weight loss is such a personal journey and these new injections are all over social media now. Usually, standard medical insurance covers them only if you are diagnosed with severe Type 2 diabetes. For basic weight loss, they are mostly not covered and are quite heavy on the pocket.

My teenage son has been struggling with weight issues due to hormonal changes, so we researched this. The insurance agent clearly told us that weight reduction injections are classified as lifestyle treatments and are not covered. We decided to focus on home-cooked meals and playing sports instead.

Please do not try any weight loss shots without a specialist's supervision. A friend of mine faced severe stomach paralysis after trying some unregulated injections. You must consult a proper endocrinologist to see if it is safe for your body.
