Does medicare cover weight loss programs?

I'm looking for a structured weight loss program but they can be quite expensive. Do health insurance plans in India usually cover or reimburse costs associated with reputable weight loss programs? I want to make an informed decision.

Honestly yaar, weight loss plans on insurance are so tricky. Actually most standard policies here dont cover simple gym memberships or dieticians easily unless it is linked to some major illness. Better to call your provider directly and check what they actually cover before paying.

I tried getting my diet plan covered once because controlling my chole bhature cravings is a full-time job! Sadly, they said regular nutrition plans for basic weight loss aren't covered under standard plans. Unless you have a medical issue because of weight, they usually tell us to manage on our own.

I understand how hard it is to manage weight as we age, beta. Don't rely too much on insurance papers as they have too many rules for weight programs. Meanwhile, starting with warm lemon water in the morning and cutting down tea sugar can do wonders ghar pe.

If insurance started paying for weight loss programs, half of India would sign up just for the air-conditioned gyms! Jokes apart, they usually cover surgeries only in extreme cases, not your weekly yoga or salad diet classes. Better to start with a free walk in the park first!

Please be very careful before starting any weight program, especially if they promise quick results. I had severe kidney issues after trying some self-proclaimed weight loss drinks last year. Go to a proper doctor first, get your blood tests done, and ask them for a safe plan.

Managing weight with PCOS is a daily battle, I know. Standard insurance rarely covers these lifestyle programs directly. I had to pay out of pocket for my endocrinologist and diet therapist, but getting a proper diagnosis helped more than any random program.

I keep searching about these policies too and it gets so stressful. What if we pay for a program and then the claim gets rejected? It is always safer to mail the insurance team and get their approval in writing first so you dont worry about big bills later.

My doctor told me that controlling weight is crucial for my high blood pressure. But the insurance company made it clear that regular weight reduction clinics aren't covered. Focus on regular checkups, salt control, and simple daily walks which are completely free anyway.
