Does medicare cover weight loss meds?

My doctor has suggested I look into some weight loss meds to manage my chronic conditions. Before I commit, I need to know if these types of medicines are typically reimbursed by Indian health insurance providers. Does anyone have experience with this?

No, standard health insurance plans and government medical schemes do not cover weight loss medications.

I am just starting to learn how these health policies work and it seems weight loss meds are not covered under standard schemes. Does anyone know if there is any specific add-on cover we can buy that covers obesity treatments?

I am so sleep-deprived trying to find a shortcut to lose weight, but my insurance agent woke me up by saying weight loss meds aren't covered! They are super expensive and you have to pay every rupee yourself. Back to boring green tea for me, I guess.

Standard medical policies don't cover weight loss medicines as they are lifestyle drugs. For a practical solution, it's best to invest in a simple, nutritious home diet and regular exercise, which actually works without draining your wallet.

Standard medical plans don't cover weight loss meds since they are considered lifestyle drugs. But don't worry, staying active and eating fresh home food is a great way to stay fit! 😊

I have seen this query many times in our health groups. Standard policies do not cover anti-obesity drugs, so you will have to pay out of pocket. It is always wise to consult a certified clinical nutritionist who can guide you on a sustainable lifestyle path.

Let's be direct, health insurance is for treating illnesses, not for weight loss pills. They won't cover these expensive meds, so don't expect them to. Stick to basic physical activity and healthy eating, which is better and free.

At the hospital where my family gets treated, the reception desk clearly confirmed that weight loss medications are not covered by any standard health plans. I suggest you ask your doctor clearly about the monthly costs and search for standard lifestyle alternatives.
