Does masshealth cover weight loss drugs?

My doctor recently suggested some weight loss medication for my health issues. I'm trying to figure out the costs and if my insurance might cover it. Does anyone know if MassHealth covers these kinds of drugs here in India?

Honestly, I can barely keep my eyes open to search for my own policy details, let alone MassHealth. But from what my cousin in Boston was ranting about last week, they only cover those heavy-duty weight loss meds if you have serious pre-existing health conditions like diabetes. Better to call their helpline directly, otherwise you will lose sleep trying to decode their terms.

These foreign insurance things are always so complicated and these weight loss injections are incredibly expensive anyway. It is always safer to talk to your primary doctor there to get a proper prescription that fits under their approved list. Otherwise, focusing on a clean home-cooked diet and daily evening walks is a free solution that actually works without any paperwork drama.

Bro, insurance rules are a total headache. MassHealth does cover some of those weight loss drugs like Wegovy but they have crazy strict criteria and require prior authorization from your doc. Just ask your general physician to submit the forms, otherwise they will charge you a bomb out of pocket.

Do not let this insurance stress disturb your inner peace, my friend. Usually, these plans do cover weight management programs or specific medications if a doctor certifies it is necessary for your well-being. Take a deep breath, call their customer service with a calm mind tomorrow, and see what positive options they have for you.

Please be very careful before starting any weight loss pills, even if they are covered by insurance. I tried some prescribed ones last year and ended up with severe gut issues and palpitations that landed me in the clinic. Definitely discuss the side effects thoroughly with a qualified doctor before you make any decisions.
