Does low dose naltrexone cause weight loss?

I've been looking into low-dose naltrexone for my chronic pain condition. I've heard some anecdotal reports that it might also help with weight management. Is it true that low-dose naltrexone can cause weight loss?

Yes, many people actually report losing some weight on this. Just make sure you are still eating enough nutritious food throughout the day.

Please be very careful with this. I had a really bad reaction and severe nausea when my dose was adjusted, which made me lose weight in an unhealthy way. If your weight drops too fast or you feel constantly sick, please contact your doctor immediately.

I started LDN two weeks ago and I'm already seeing my appetite go down quite a bit. Is this normal or should I be worried? Please let me know if anyone else faced this in their first month.

Even if the medicine causes some weight changes, don't go buying expensive diet supplements. Stick to simple home-cooked dal, rice, and sabzi and keep yourself hydrated with plain water or nimbu paani.

I've been reading a lot about LDN online because my doctor mentioned it for my chronic fatigue. Apparently, it can reduce systemic inflammation which sometimes helps with weight loss. Still trying to understand how it actually works for normal Indian diets though.

If you are seeing sudden weight changes, please get your thyroid levels checked too. My weight was fluctuating wildly until I got a proper TSH test and my doctor adjusted my doses. It's always safer to run regular blood tests when you are on specialized medications.

Look, don't treat this medicine as some magic weight loss pill. If it happens as a side effect because your inflammation is down, then well and good. But you still have to put in the work with proper home food and daily walks.
