Does insulin resistance slow weight loss?

I've been trying to lose weight consistently, but the progress is very slow even with diet and exercise. My trainer mentioned that insulin resistance could be a factor. Does insulin resistance really make it harder to lose weight?

Yes, it absolutely slows it down. I was working out like crazy and barely lost any weight until I got my fasting insulin checked and managed it. Once that was sorted, the scale finally started moving.

I am trying to lose weight but nothing is working. Does insulin resistance make it completely impossible, or does it just take much longer? Please let me know how you guys managed it.

Yes, because high insulin levels signals the body to store fat rather than break it down. Focus on eating high-fiber foods and proteins first in your meals to prevent insulin spikes. Patience is key here.

It definitely makes weight loss a very slow process. However, before starting any extreme diets or supplements to fix it, please get your HbA1c and fasting insulin tested and consult an endocrinologist.

I can only share my own journey—I struggled for a year with zero weight loss. For me, reducing simple carbs and fasting intermittently under my dietitian's guidance was what finally helped bypass that slow phase.
