Does infrared sauna help with weight loss?

My friend recently started using an infrared sauna at a wellness center and claims it's helping her lose weight. I'm trying to lose a few kilos myself. Does an infrared sauna really help with weight loss, or is it just water weight?

My uncle swears by natural sweating and steam rooms for health, but my doctor told me that sauna only causes water weight loss. Once you drink water, that weight comes back. Proper diet is still key.

Ji, it will make you sweat a lot, which makes you feel lighter instantly. But that is just water leaving the body, not real fat. For real weight loss, daily walking and simple food work best.

When I asked the physiotherapist at Manipal Hospital, they clarified that infrared saunas are great for circulation and muscle relaxation, but not a weight loss solution. Always consult your doctor before trying new therapies if you have BP issues.

In my 66 years, I have seen so many fitness trends come and go. These saunas feel nice and relax your joints, but they won't magically burn fat. Stick to a clean home-cooked diet and regular movement.
