Does increased fiber help with weight loss?

I'm trying to lose some weight and my dietitian suggested adding more fiber to my diet. I've been trying to increase it, but I'm curious. Does increased fiber genuinely help with weight loss?

Absolutely! I track my daily macros on MyFitnessPal and aim for about 30g of fiber daily. It keeps you feeling full for longer, which naturally helps you stay in a calorie deficit without feeling like you are starving.

Fiber is a lifesaver for weight and sugar control. It slows down glucose absorption, which prevents sudden insulin spikes that lead to fat storage. Try getting it from whole grains and vegetables instead of those processed 'fiber-rich' packaged biscuits.

Yes, sister, eating fiber is very good. In our village, we eat a lot of green leafy vegetables and oats, which keeps us full for a long time. You won't feel like eating extra sweets or tea cakes, and the weight will naturally reduce.

My mother always told us to eat whole grains like ragi and brown rice to keep our stomachs light and clean. My doctor also advises the same, saying that the natural fiber keeps digestion healthy and helps in steady, safe weight loss.

It definitely helps! Fiber adds bulk to your diet and cleanses your digestive tract, which is great for losing weight. Just make sure to increase your water intake as well, otherwise a sudden jump in fiber can cause bloating or constipation.

Pairing a high-fiber diet with 30-45 minutes of daily brisk walking is a fantastic strategy. The fiber keeps your hunger in check, and the active movement burns off the calories. It is a very sustainable way to lose weight without feeling exhausted.
