Does husky cover weight loss medication?

Struggling with my weight for a while now, my doctor suggested exploring some weight loss medications. The cost is a concern, though. Does a typical health insurance plan, like what's referred to as 'husky' in some places, usually cover weight loss medication in India?

Yes, they do cover it but there are strict approval rules. Better to call them directly and ask.

I totally get it, trying to figure out insurance is so exhausting when you just want to focus on your health. From what I know, they cover specific meds only if your doctor writes a strong prescription showing medical need.

Even if they cover it, remember meds are only one part of the journey. Try to add daily brisk walking and basic strength training to your routine if your doctor says it is safe for you.

Practically speaking, you will need a prior authorization form from your doctor. Husky has a specific list of preferred drugs, so check that list before getting the prescription.

Honestly, weight loss is so hard when you love biryani as much as I do! Hopefully your insurance covers it, but also try portion control so you don't have to give up your favorite foods completely.

They often cover things like Ozempic but mostly for diabetes management. If it is purely for weight loss, the approval criteria are much tougher, so please keep a check on your sugar levels too.

Don't worry too much. Mostly these plans cover it if your doctor explains it is necessary for your health, so please discuss it with them.

Haan, insurance rules are very tricky, na. They do cover some medications but only after your doctor submits a lot of paperwork, so meet your doc first.
