Does having sex affect weight gain or loss?

My friend and I were having a discussion, and she jokingly said that sex burns calories. Does having sex actually have any significant effect on either weight gain or weight loss, or is it too negligible to matter?

There is a common myth that intimacy leads to weight gain, but physiologically that is not true. It is just a form of physical exercise that burns a small number of calories. If you are noticing sudden weight changes, it is much more likely due to your diet, sleep cycle, or hormonal fluctuations.

Our bodies are beautiful systems where physical connection is just one natural aspect of life. It helps release happy hormones which can reduce stress, and less stress naturally helps in keeping our body balanced. Stay positive, eat mindfully, and let your body find its own natural rhythm.

From a purely energy perspective, physical activity of any kind burns calories, but it is not enough to cause major weight loss on its own. True weight management depends entirely on your daily calorie intake and a balanced diet. Eating fresh, home-cooked meals is what truly makes a difference.

I used to worry about this too because of some random articles I read online! But honestly, there is no connection. Any minor weight change you feel is probably just water retention or bloating around your periods. Don't stress about it at all.

I actually discussed this during my yearly health checkup because of so much conflicting information online. My physician explained that intimacy only burns around 3 to 4 calories per minute, which is comparable to a brisk walk. Therefore, it has a negligible impact on overall weight gain or loss compared to daily metabolic rate and diet.

My fitness tracker shows that active sessions burn roughly 80-100 calories, which is quite low compared to a solid gym session. So it won't really help you lose weight fast, nor does it cause any weight gain. To track weight properly, focus on your daily calorie deficit on an app.

As someone managing high blood pressure, I know that physical activity is good for the heart, but it won't magically change your weight. Weight fluctuations are mostly about lifestyle, stress, and medications. Regular checkups and keeping an eye on your salt and oil intake are what really matter.

In our villages, people sometimes believe these old rumors, but they are not true. Weight only increases when we eat heavy fried food and don't do enough physical labor in the fields or house. Don't worry about such rumors, just eat simple food and stay active.

Honestly, it doesn't make you gain or lose any noticeable weight. It is basically just like doing a bit of light cardio for a few minutes. If you want to lose weight, you still have to hit the gym and watch what you eat, there's no shortcut around that.

When you have hormonal issues like PCOS, weight gain can happen easily and people often look for all kinds of reasons. Intimacy itself doesn't cause weight changes, but hormones certainly do. It is always better to get your thyroid and insulin levels checked if you're struggling with unexplained weight gain.
