Does fibromyalgia cause weight loss?

My friend who has fibromyalgia mentioned she actually lost a lot of weight when her symptoms started. I've been feeling quite ill with constant pain and loss of appetite recently. Is it possible for fibromyalgia to cause weight loss?

While weight gain is more common, fibromyalgia can sometimes cause weight loss if the pain and stress are killing your appetite. Focus on eating nutrient-dense meals like nuts, paneer, and dals even in small portions, and do very light stretching to keep your muscles active.

When the body is in constant pain, our digestive fire can weaken due to stress, leading to weight loss. Keep a positive mind, do gentle meditation to calm your nerves, and take care of your health. Things will slowly balance out, do not worry.

I was reading about this on a medical forum because my friend has fibromyalgia. Apparently, the constant nausea, digestive issues, and high stress levels can make some people lose weight instead of gaining it. It is interesting how differently everyone's body reacts.

It can happen if the chronic pain makes you lose your appetite and you don't feel like eating your favorite foods. When I feel down, I try to have light, tasty comfort foods like warm khichdi or fruit chaat so I still get some energy without feeling nauseous.

Yeah, when my pain flares up, I honestly just lose my appetite completely and end up losing weight. The constant fatigue makes me too lazy to even grab a snack. If you are losing a lot of weight suddenly, you should definitely check with your doctor.
