Does fiber help with weight loss?

I'm on a weight loss journey and my nutritionist suggested I focus on high-fiber foods. Does fiber really help with weight loss, or is it more for digestive health?

It definitely does, because whenever I have a huge bowl of salad or some high-fiber sprouts before my meals, my crazy cravings for butter chicken and naans naturally go down. It basically tricks your stomach into feeling full so you eat less of the heavy stuff, haha!

I am no expert, but when I started trying to lose weight post-pregnancy, I replaced my normal white rice with brown rice and added more veggies. I noticed I didn't feel like snacking every two hours anymore. It really helped me manage my portion sizes without feeling starved.

Haan babu, bilkul fayda karta hai. Hamare yahan gao mein sab daliya aur hari sabziya khate hain, wahan koi jaldi mota nahi hota. Yeh sab pachaane mein thoda samay leta hai toh bhookh kam lagti hai aur taqat bhi bani rehti hai. Isko apni khuraak mein zaroor shamil karo.

Beta, always focus on natural things. Eating whole fruits instead of drinking juices, and having wheat bran or ragi is very beneficial for health. But remember, start slowly otherwise it can cause gas and stomach pain. Drink warm water throughout the day to help it digest well.

Fiber helps, but if you have a thyroid condition like me, weight loss can still be very stubborn. I eat a lot of fiber to help my digestion, but regular thyroid level tests and adjusting medicine under my doctor's guidance is what actually makes the weight move. Get your levels checked first.

Yes, it does. My doctor explained that soluble fiber slows down the gastric emptying process, which prevents sudden insulin spikes. When your blood sugar is stable, your body is less likely to store fat, and you don't get those sudden, intense hunger pangs.

My doctor advised me to eat high-fiber foods like oats and apples, not just for weight loss, but also because it helps control my blood pressure and cholesterol. Along with a good walk, eating fiber-rich food has helped me manage both my weight and my BP readings. Do get your pressure checked too.
