Does fenofibrate cause weight loss?

I've started taking Fenofibrate for my cholesterol. I'm also trying to manage my weight. Does this medication cause weight loss as a side effect, or does it typically have no impact on weight?

Please be very careful. I was prescribed fenofibrate for high triglycerides, and while it managed my cholesterol, I had some muscle pain issues. It is definitely not meant for weight loss, and trying to use it for that without a doctor's supervision can lead to liver or kidney complications.

My father takes fenofibrate for his high lipid levels, and honestly, we haven't noticed any weight loss from it at all. It is strictly a cholesterol medicine, not a weight management pill. For weight loss, simple portion control and regular walks are still the best way to go!

I am actually a bit confused about this medicine. My doctor mentioned prescribing it to my mother for her high triglycerides, but she also wants to lose some weight. Does fenofibrate help with weight directly, or is its only job to lower blood fats?

Fenofibrate is for cholesterol, not a shortcut for weight loss. If you want to lose weight practically, just reduce potato, rice, and oily snacks from your diet, and start walking 5,000 steps a day. It is much safer, highly effective, and doesn't cost anything.

Hey, don't worry or get confused. Fenofibrate is designed specifically to lower triglycerides and raise good cholesterol, and it doesn't cause weight loss. If you are looking to lose weight, focus on a healthy diet and daily exercise rather than expecting this medication to do it.
