Does excessive sweating cause weight loss?

I sweat a lot when I exercise, sometimes my clothes are completely drenched. My grandmother always said it's a good sign for losing weight. I'm wondering if excessive sweating actually helps in reducing weight.

Please be careful. If you are sweating excessively without heavy exercise and losing weight rapidly, it could be a sign of thyroid issues or something else. I had severe sweating and weight loss which turned out to be hyperthyroidism, so please see a doctor for tests.

Bhai, sweating is just body heat coming out as water. It does not melt fat. To lose weight, eat simple home food, avoid sweets, and do hard work or walk daily in the morning.

Actually, sweating only makes you lose water weight, not real fat. Once you drink a glass of water, that weight comes right back. For real fat loss, you need a proper calorie deficit diet and consistent physical activity.

Drinking warm lemon water in the morning can help clean your system, but sweating alone won't burn fat. If you are sweating a lot even while resting in a cool room, please consult a doctor as it is not normal.

I completely understand why you might think this, as we often associate sweating with intense weight loss. I used to worry about my sweating levels too. Just know that it is just water loss, and don't stress yourself out too much about it.

I always thought sweating in the gym meant I was burning a lot of fat. Is it true that sweating more doesn't mean a better workout? I am a bit confused about how this works.

Don't believe people who say wearing plastic wraps or sweating suits helps you lose weight. It is highly dangerous and can cause severe dehydration. Verify any health advice with a certified fitness trainer or doctor first.
