Does early pregnancy cause gas?

My wife is about 7 weeks pregnant, and she's constantly feeling gassy and bloated. She's a bit uncomfortable and wants to know if this is a normal part of early pregnancy. Does early pregnancy cause a lot of gas?

I am also feeling very gassy and bloated lately, and I'm a bit shy to discuss this with anyone. Is it normal to feel a dull ache in the lower stomach because of this gas, or should I be worried?

Yes, gas is extremely common during the early weeks because of high progesterone levels slowing your digestion. Try to avoid heavy, oily foods and make sure you walk for ten minutes after meals. It really helps to keep things moving.

When I was in my first trimester, the gas buildup was so bad that I could barely sit comfortably at my office desk. I found that drinking warm water throughout the day and eating smaller portions helped me feel a bit better.

Yes, it absolutely does! My stomach felt like a tight balloon during the first two months. Try chewing some fennel seeds (saunf) after your meals, it is a great natural way to relieve the gas without taking any pills.

In our days, we didn't have apps to tell us this, but we all knew that gas and bloating are the very first signs of a baby coming. Your body is just adjusting. Just drink warm cumin water and don't worry, it will settle down in the second trimester.

I totally understand how uncomfortable this is. A very safe remedy that worked for me was drinking warm water with a pinch of black salt and carom seeds (ajwain) after food. It naturally relieves the bloating without any side effects.

While mild gas is very normal, please be cautious if you have sharp, severe pain along with it. I had severe cramping that I mistook for simple gas, and it turned out to need medical attention. It is always best to let your doctor know about any persistent pain.
