Does early pregnancy cause bloating?

I just found out I'm pregnant, barely 6 weeks, and I'm already feeling incredibly bloated, like my stomach is swollen. Is this a common symptom? Does early pregnancy cause bloating so early on?

During my first few weeks, I felt so incredibly bloated that none of my regular jeans would fit properly. It felt exactly like pre-period bloating but just didn't go away. Eating smaller, frequent meals instead of heavy dinners helped me manage it a bit.

Look, progesterone hormone levels shoot up during early pregnancy, which slows down your entire digestion. That is why you feel like a balloon all the time. Drink plenty of water and don't lie down immediately after eating, it's that simple.

Bloating is very common early on. You can drink a cup of warm water with a little fennel seeds (saunf) soaked in it to help soothe your stomach. However, if you experience severe abdominal pain or vomiting, please consult your doctor immediately.

Oh, absolutely! In those early weeks, my wife looked at a glass of water and felt bloated. It is just the hormones throwing a party in your stomach, completely normal so don't worry about looking a little puffy.

According to my pregnancy tracker app, high progesterone relaxes the smooth muscles in your gastrointestinal tract, slowing digestion. I logged my meals and noticed that cutting out processed foods and tracking my daily fiber intake helped reduce the gaseous feeling significantly.

Yes, bloating is one of the most common early complaints due to the sudden hormonal surge. I always advise expecting mothers to walk for 10-15 minutes after meals to assist digestion. Stay hydrated, avoid gassy foods like cabbage, and give your body some time to adjust.
