Does early pregnancy cause backache?

My wife recently found out she's pregnant, and she's been complaining of a dull ache in her lower back. She's only a few weeks along. Is it normal for early pregnancy to cause backache this soon, or could it be something else?

My wife had really bad lower back pain in her first trimester itself. The doctor told us hormonal changes relax the ligaments, which causes this. She got a lot of relief from gentle stretching and using a small pillow while sitting.

Yes dear, back pain is very common in early pregnancy due to hormonal changes. Instead of taking any medicine, you can try warm compresses or a gentle mustard oil massage on the lower back. Make sure you don't lift heavy weights at home during this time.

Hormones like relaxin start preparing your pelvic area early on, which often leads to back discomfort. Doing very gentle stretching or daily pranayama helps relax the nervous system and eases the physical strain. Just ensure you take your doctor's permission before starting any routine.

Hormonal shifts loosen up your ligaments early on, which puts extra stress on your lower back. Keeping your core and glutes gently active through safe, low-impact exercises can help support your spine. Just make sure to eat balanced meals and stay hydrated to avoid muscle cramps.

I was just reading about this on a medical forum, and it seems backache is actually one of the classic early signs. The body starts releasing hormones that soften up the joints and ligaments quite early. It's fascinating how quickly the body starts changing.

Backache is common, but it is always best to mention it to your gynecologist during your first scan. At my hospital, the doctor checked my posture and recommended safe physical therapy exercises. Never take any painkiller without asking your doctor first.

I had terrible backache during my first few weeks of pregnancy and thought something was wrong. My gynecologist advised me to avoid sitting in the same posture for too long and to wear comfortable, flat footwear. Also, sleeping on your side with a pillow between your knees makes a huge difference.

Early backaches are normal due to muscle relaxation, but don't spend a lot on expensive massage therapists or fancy maternity belts yet. Simple home care like a warm water bag and basic rest works perfectly fine. Save that budget for the upcoming ultrasound scans and blood tests which are more important.

Oh yes, it totally does! My back was aching even before I took the test. Don't worry too much, just get some good rest and ask your partner for a nice, gentle back rub.

I remember crying from the backache and constant anxiety during my early weeks, wondering if my body could handle it. It is completely normal to feel overwhelmed when your body is changing so fast. Please be gentle with yourself and take all the rest you need.
