Does drinking olive oil help with weight loss?

I came across some information online suggesting that drinking a tablespoon of olive oil daily can help with weight loss. This sounds a bit unusual to me. Is there any truth to this claim about olive oil and weight reduction?

Oh, please don't start drinking spoons of olive oil! It is so heavy and honestly tastes quite weird on its own. It's much better to just use a little bit of it as a dressing on your salads instead.

I saw this trend on Instagram and tried it for three days. It literally gave me an upset stomach and I had to miss my lectures. Trust me, it's not worth the hype, just stick to normal gym food.

I panicked when I saw my husband doing this morning olive oil shot because I thought it would raise his cholesterol. But after talking to some fitness friends, we realized healthy fats are normal in moderation. Just don't overdo it, it is still pure fat!

Having PCOS makes me cautious about trendy diets. While healthy fats are good for our hormones, drinking raw oil can stress the gallbladder. It is safer to get a customized diet plan from a professional who understands your body.

My cardiologist at Fortis specifically advised against consuming oils raw in large quantities. If you have any cholesterol or heart risk factors, please ask your doctor clearly before starting these alternative health trends.

It does not help directly. Olive oil is high in calories, so drinking it can actually cause weight gain if you don't track your total daily calorie intake.

Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fatty acids which are good for the heart, but it has about 120 calories per tablespoon. Drinking it directly can easily put you in a calorie surplus, which stops weight loss. Use it sparingly in your cooking instead.

Drinking oil for weight loss sounds like cleaning your car by pouring petrol on the seats! Oil is 100% fat, guys. Let’s keep the olive oil for the pasta and do some extra running instead.
